Can you imagine shopping for six straight hours in the red hot smoking sun just by walking? That’s Kuta for you, the shopping haven of Bali and so they say.

One of the places my sister wanted to visit was Poppies, a beautifully decorated restaurant situated deep inside of Kuta (when I mean deep inside, it means DAMN hard to find, i.e. 3 hours to find). In the end, it was worth it since the nasi goreng there ROCKED!!

The mixed juice there was extremely good as well. The drink was much needed after walking for SO long and not knowing where we were heading (adventurous yes but dumb all the same). It was nearly 40 degrees! And I was in the most inappropiate of attires, in long pants and shoes! Yes, I know, ill-advised.

We also managed to find Hard Rock Cafe following our (fine, my) mini shopping spree but what caught our eye at that moment following the completion of our water supply was McDonalds.

Seriously, McFlurry has never tasted so good before.

Fun Facts about Kuta: When bargaining at places like Kuta, be sure to put a value that is about 40% of the price of the item you are interested in buying. At the same time, act disinterested. If she (most of them are females) refuses to lower her asking price, just leave immediatedly. Most of the time the sellers will soften their resolve and eventually give the ideal price. If they don’t, don’t worry cause chances are, every other shop sells the same thing at a lower price. Don’t feel kesian for the sellers and don’t think that you are insulting them by asking for a lower price, it is part and parcel of shopping at Kuta, where the original price is so bloated, you will be surpised how low it can go.
